The Brown House Website terrymc@3rivers.net Description: The Brown House, art gallery and museum, is located in the small community of East Glacier Park which is on the east slopes of the Rocky Mountains near the southern edge of Glacier National Park. The Brown House was a grocery store that dates back to the early twenties. The main room still contains many of the fixtures, furniture and even goods that were here when it was still a store. Many other items from the early days of East Glacier and the Blackfeet Reservation are on display in a museum that is integrated with the art gallery. The Brown House Gallery and Museum was established in 1973 and displays the works of Montana artists. The owner is a potter and sculptor and produces porcelain and stoneware pottery as well as bronze sculpture in studios at the Brown House.The guest lodging at the Brown House is located one block from the Amtrak station. At present there are two rooms available. Each room was recently remodeled. The upstairs room, which has a view of the mountains, has a queen bed and a twin day bed. The downstairs room, furnished with antiques, has a four poster double bed and a twin day bed. A rollaway is also available. Both rooms have private entrances, private baths and electric heat. The Brown House is within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants, gift shops, car rentals, horseback riding concession, golf course and laundromat.
