He was awarded the property because of back pay the Cooper Tie Company owed him. Karst built a cabin and then eventually built 25 cabins to accommodate 100 people. He installed a rope tow, in 1937, for the use as a recreational skier. For fifty years he operated the resort and then retired. Today it is still in operation. This area was one of Montana’s unusual present-day mining ventures - an asbestos mine."
