A lovely cottage built in 1909 on the Clearwater River, this comfortable home is surrounded by a secret garden with wonderful shady areas to read or sit and have afternoon tea. Children love playing and hiding in the yard among the berry bushes, fruit trees, flowering shrubs, and mature fir and cedar trees.
This getaway location allows immediate access to the southfork of the Clearwater where you can swim, raft, or try your hand at fishing. The surrounding area is also known for excellent hunting and fishing with the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness only a short drive up the Middlefork of the Clearwater River. The property is two blocks from the main street of Kooskia, a town of 700 founded in the late 1800's originally supported by the timber industry. The Clearwater Valley includes the nearby communities of Kamiah, Stites, Harpster and Clearwater with a total population near 5000. U.S. Highway 12, part of the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway, parallels the route of Lewis And Clark and is popular with travelers retracing their journey from St. Louis to the Pacific. The 2004-2006 Bicentennial Anniversary of this historic event is encouraging increased interest in this beautiful region of Idaho. .
