Description: Mortimer Gulch Campground is located in the Lewis and Clark National Forest in Central Montana at an elevation of 5000 feet. The campground is pack it in, pack it out and composed of two loops--upper and lower. It was reconstructed, summer 1998. The lower loop has lots of aspen, while Douglas fir are more prevalent in the upper loop. This is bear country; practice proper food storage technique. There are 26 campsites and handicapped accessible restrooms. Gibson Reservoir, with an area of 1296 acres, is nearby. A primitive boat ramp is 0.5 miles from campground and is accessible only to to 4X4 tow vehicles. Foot and horse access trails lead out of the campground to the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Please limit stay to 14 days, small fee required."
