BigSkyMontana.us Description: The Montana Stockdog Challenge will be held at the Pinto Ranch 16 miles south of Livingston, Montana, Saturday May 25, and Sunday May 26, 2002. It is located in beautiful Paradise Valley. There are many tourist attractions in the immediate area including Yellowstone Park and Chico Hot Springs.You will have the opportunity to see some of the finest border collies in North America working sheep in a ranch setting. Dogs are sent on an outrun of 500 - 600 yard to gather, fetch, drive and pen five head of sheep through a precision course. This event is judged on precision and time required to complete the course. There will also be a two furlong duck race during the day. Anyone may enter with the purchase $5 per duck. An art contest has been added to our event where winners appear on our poster for the following year.Peter Heatherington from Girvan, Scotland, will be judging the trial. Peter is internationally acclaimed having judged the European Championships, Texas Olympics, Meeker and many open trials in the UK. He has been to the US twelve times to judge various trials. He will be conducting stockdog training clinics prior to and after the competition.This family event is under the sponsorship of Community Health Partners, a non-profit organization designed to help families in need.
