Big Gallagher Western Art Website djenkins@spro.net Chipmunk Corrals Description: My name is Richard (Dick) Jenkins and I was born in Boise, Idaho and spent much of my childhood in Owyhee County and in Idaho's back country. As a young man I worked on various ranches in Idaho and Colorado. Eventually I started working in the timber industry so I could make enough money to support my cowboy habit and large family. A few years ago I was involved in an accident which did severe damage to one of my knees. I had surgery on the knee in February of 1994 and was unable to function for months. While I was down my wife Linda gave me some drawing supplies and I began to draw day and night. After attending various art shows and being encouraged by others, I decided to take advantage of my God given talent and pursue an art career. I have enjoyed drawing since I was a small child and am entirely self taught. My wife Linda and I live in a remote area an hour and a half from the nearest city, Boise Idaho. My wife has undertaken the task of marketing my artwork as a full time career, this website is a small example. We work under the business name of Big Gallagher Western Art, a name chosen because we live on Big Gallagher Creek on the South fork of the Payette River near Garden Valley, Idaho. We have 10 children and 17 grandchildren. I enjoy fishing the high mountain lakes a-horseback and helping out on nearby ranches. I feel more at home cowboying than standing in front of an easel. I have created my website to show you through my drawings this way of life and the people who live it.
