Description:
SINCE THE 1870'S, Montana ranch hands have roamed the range and worked cattle along the banks of Bonanza Creek. A century later, very little has changed...the only difference is that now we've set a place at the table for you.

Bonanza Creek Country welcomes the visitor who is seeking good riding, good horses, adventure, comfort and personal attention. You may be seeking a relaxed atmosphere. We have it, an escape from preset schedules. And because we only invite 12-16 guests at any given time, the demand to conform to strict routine simply floats away on the Montana breeze.

"Thank you all very much for making this the best vacation I've ever had. I've dreamed of doing this for years, and it surpassed my wildest expectations."
Pam from Kentucky

THIS WORKING CATTLE RANCH was homesteaded in 1877 by M. T. Grande who came from Norway looking for a better life. Today his fourth and fifth generations manage the ranch. It won't take you long to see that M. T. chose this area not only for its good water and grasses to graze cattle and sheep, but also for its beautiful scenery. Today's family values our way of life, the wide open spaces, star-filled skies, the beauty and strength of the mountains, the wildlife that prevails, and the solitude. We hope you will join us for some horseback riding and help us move some cattle. With 1200 mother cows on 25,000 acres, there is lots of room for all of us.

We only take about a dozen guests aweek and treat you like family. We are real people on a real cattle ranch. Our horses are ranch horses and are chosen for you by your level of ability. We have tried and true for the beginners and good, fast cow horses for the more advanced. There are new riding opportunities every day as well as team penning and cattle work. And no head-to-tail riding!!

WE LOVE CHILDREN and cater to them even though we don't have a separate children's program. Those 6 and older can join the trail rides, 4 and 5 year olds can ride in the corral and those 3 and under will be with a supervisor who will be in charge of their care while parents are out riding. Families can ride together or children can have their own wrangler. Children here enjoy the freedom of unlimited spaces.

OTHER ACTIVITIES include hiking on wild games trails, wildlife watching, photography, evening ride and cookout, all day rides, wagon rides, an off-site trip to drive amongst the buffalo and visit a Native American ceremonial site, as well as team penning and cattle work.
TEAM PENNING is a great arena sport for all riders. It will test your skills whether a beginner or advanced rider. Who will win -- the cows or the riders???

CATTLE WORK is usually once or twice a week. Moving herds from pasture to pasture, bringing the bulls home, checking for sick or injured cattle or moving the cattle to better grass and water is all great fun. Riders should be proficient enough to ride on their own without a wrangler by their side.

WILDLIFE in the area includes whitetail and mule deer, elk, antelope, bear, coyotes, fox and cougars as well as the smaller chipmunks, squirrels, gophers, badgers and jackrabbits.

SPECIALIZED RIDING is available for persons with special cognitive and/or physical needs. Please phone for information.

RODEOS are a fun party of the cowboy's life. There are local rodeos on the Fourth of July and on Labor Day. They have great stock and fun western dances.

For peace and quiet, enjoy a hike on one of the wild game trails. Watch the wildlife, photograph wildflowers
