Fort Peck Lake is 17 miles SE of Glasgow.The lake is the largest hydraulic earth-filled dam in the world providing a lake of 130 miles in length and 1600 miles of shoreline. There is more shoreline than California or Florida. The dam itself is 4 miles long and 250 feet high. Fort Peck Lake encompasses the 1,000,000 acre C.M. Russell National Wildlife Game Refuge, 12 public recreation areas which include boat ramps, rest rooms, picnic shelters and camping facilities.The In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail fishing tournament has been a frequent visitor to this area. Other activities which take place on the lake include: Ice Fishing Tournament second weekend in February), Longest Dam Rum (4th weekend in June), Governor’s Cup Walleye Tournament 92nd weekend in July) and a Poker Run by Boat 93rd weekend in July).A proposed warm water fish hatchery is in its infant stage with construction scheduled to start in 2003.
