Sacagawea Heritage Days; August 20-22, 2004 Website svcc1@salmoninternet.com Description: Discover the heart of Sacajawea through her people, the Agai Dika, and re-live the travels of the Lewis and Clark Expedition through the lands and rivers of Salmon, Idaho. Featured on a 71 acre property just east of Salmon, Idaho, the Center has easy access from Highway 28. Within the backdrop of riparian forests, the Lemhi river, Sacajawea Peaks, and the route used by the Corps of Discovery, the park offers a true natural experience of the land 200 years ago. An estimated 6,000 people will be in attendance for this Lewis and Clark legacy event. This festival celebrates Sacajawea, a native of the Lemhi, whom traveled with the Lewis and Clark expedition. Her assistance was vital to the expedition's success. Sacajawea was born here in the Lemhi Valley. The event features a free community concert, a Cattlemen’s Barbeque, Traveling Trunk displays (Corps of Discovery replica artifacts), Fort Hall Inter-Tribal Dance Company, Historical Presentations and demonstrations by artists and artisans on arts and crafts reminiscent of the period.
