Description:
On October 1, 1957, Jack C. Webb began a Kansas City tradition—the Hereford House—that endures to this day. Located close to stockyards that processed the finest corn-fed beef from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska, the Hereford House popularity was natural in a city considered the major beef capital of the Midwest. "Locals" from as far away as Sedalia traveled to dine on America's finest steaks, and dinner at the Hereford House was on the itineraries of Kansas City visitors.

In addition to top-quality steaks, customer service played a vital part in the Hereford House tradition. In fact, the restaurant staff's loyalty and longevity have become hallmarks.

In November 1987, a partnership headed by Rod Anderson acquired the Hereford House. Expansion and remodeling began immediately, always striving to maintain the atmosphere and tradition of the restaurant Kansas City loved. In March 1997, the Hereford House opened a second location in the prestigious Town Center Plaza in Leawood, Kansas. Since that time, the Hereford House has established a reputation as Leawood's first choice for great steaks.
