Description: The Conrad Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization who goal is to support and encourage growth of commerce in the Conrad market area. We also provide information, programs and promotional activities designed to stimulate use of local services by consumers to support economic growth.The Chamber has experienced recent growth from 87 members in 1998 to 110 in 1999. Along with the growth, the Chamber actively pursuing the diversification on Pondera County’s economic base. Because of the depressed state of the agricultural economy. Relying on Conrad’s recent history, the Chamber in close association with the city, Economic Development Council, and several local service organizations, are endeavoring to secure a deactivated missile for display. The missile will be located one block off of Highway 91 to the west. Because of its vertical stature it would be visible from the highway and the interstate. Conrad has two exits from the interstate thus creating a natural scenic detour through the town in order to view the missile. In subsequent years, plans are being developed to expand the exhibit to include a rest area, museum, and visitor center.The community’s Visitor Center is managed by the Chamber of Commerce, answering some 30 to 40 requests for information per month. They send out visitor packets, relocation packets, as well as spearhead the local Welcome Committee efforts. Local residents also find many of their questions answered at the Chamber office.The Chamber of Commerce is responsible for several of the largest civic functions in Conrad. They include: Farm Festival Day, Art on Main, Christmas Stroll, and the Chamber’s Annual Banquet. They also participate in Whoop-Up Days, Conrad’s defining celebration, most recently by hosting an Antique Car Show and coordinating the parade."
