Description: The Roland Alpine Meadows Ranch is an Historical designed Property—House—Cabin with new facilities also available. In the later part of 1908, Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to design a development in the mountains that would allow people from the city to live in the mountains, pick apples during Montana’s apple boom, socialize, and live in a little utopia, Mr. Wright visited the site for development in 1909 following a visit to Chicago from Mr. W.I. Moody and Mr. Frederick D. Nichols who were in charge of bringing finances into the Bitterroot Valley for the production of the Big Ditch. The first of the community’s homes and the clubhouse were built during 1910 and 1911. Numerous architects have visited the property and several architectural articles have been published regarding the property’s historical significance. The Roland Alpine Meadows Guest Ranch and Retreat rest on 225 acres at the end of a towering pine tree lined driveway. The main house sleeps 4, 2 separate suites each sleep 4 and the cabin sleeps 1. Weekly stay of 5 days or more will receive a discount of $15.00 per day. Wright designed the Cabin which is now surrounded by trees, adjacent to a seasonal stream. Mr. Wright was not only commissioned to design the homes on the property but also the landscape design as well.This Montana Ranch vacation is a beautiful and unique get away. Area outdoor activities available to our guests include world class fly fishing on the historic Bitterroot River, the river of Lewis and Clark only five minutes away. Or the Big Hole river a beautiful mountain drive one hour away. Several nearby mountain lakes streams are sure to produce a great fishing adventure. Down hill skiing at Lost Trail Ski Resort is a must. There is cross country skiing as well. Hiking biking trails available from the ranch or go out on a National Forest tour. The mountain and valley area is a must see not to mention the wildlife. If sleeping on the ground by an open fire is more your thing we can arrange that for you.
