Description: Perhaps one of the most visually stunning Lewis and Clark Center, the Lewis and Clark Lake Visitors center rests atop the Calumet Bluff just downstream from the Gavins Point Powerplant. This location is one of the richest Lewis and Clark information points along the Trail. Its location at the Lewis and Clark Lake provides many recreational opportunities. It is one of the most widely visited areas in South Dakota Inside the center: Numerous exhibits focus on not only Lewis and Clark, but also the geology, settlement, natural history, and other historical moments along the Missouri River region. The Calumet Bluff Theater programs highlight construction of Gavins Point Dam, the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and wildflowers. The center overlooks the Missouri River, the Lewis and Clark Lake, and the Gavins Point Dam. Visitor Center Hours: Summer Hours: Mon-Friday 8am-9pm Sat & Sunday 10am to 9pm Off-season Hours Mon- Friday 8am to 4:30pm Open weekends in April, May, Sept, & October - 10am to 6pm Outside the Center: Visitors are also encouraged to take the interpretive walk outside the center.
