Description: The Lewis & Clark Lodge has sleeping accommodations for 10-12 adults, a large kitchen, formal dining room, large living room, a family room, 2 bathrooms, and more than 1200 square feet of outside decking for barbecuing and relaxation. A pristine tributary of Hyalite Creek runs through the large backyard. There is also a one acre fenced horse pasture, which could be used to rest your horses between horseback rides. The Lodge contains several mounts of trophy American bison, elk, moose, caribou, and mule deer. Six rivers and their tributaries with blue ribbon trout fishing are within 25 miles of the Lewis & Clark Lodge. These include the Madison River, the East and West Gallatin Rivers, the Jefferson River, the Missouri River, and the Yellowstone River. Additional fishing is available in Yellowstone National Park where you can also view various species of wildlife including bison, elk, moose, grizzly bear, black bear, pronghorn antelope, mule deer, wolves and coyotes. Birds include bald eagles, golden eagles, ducks, geese, pelicans, sandhill cranes, and many others. The North and West Gates to Yellowstone National Park are within 80-90 miles. The Hyalite recreation area includes tremendous opportunities for backcountry hiking, mountain climbing and horseback riding in national forests and wilderness areas. You will experience numerous vistas of the magnificent peaks of the Gallatin Mountain Range as well as of the Spanish Peaks, the Absorkee-Beartooth Range, the Bridger Mountains, and the Tobacco Roots. The Hyalite recreation area is handicap accessible with trails especially designed for easy access to Hyalite Creek and surrounding areas. You may also wish to visit the Museum of the Rockies located on the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman, and the Madison Buffalo Jump and the Lewis and Clark Caverns near Three Forks. The museum includes exhibits of pioneer life as well as numerous dinosaurs, including Tyrannosaurus Rex. Most of the dinosaurs on exhibit were discovered in the badlands and Missouri Breaks of Eastern Montana. Much of the movie Jurassic Park was based on the discoveries made by personnel who study at the museum. Water sports and fishing are also available at Canyon Ferry Lake located 65 miles north of Bozeman. Superb downhill and cross-country skiing are available at Big Sky, located 40 miles away along highway 93, which leads to Yellowstone National Park. Skiing is also available at Bridger Bowl nestled in the Bridger Mountains 15 miles north of Bozeman.
