The Chamber of Commerce rents the Community Center in South Bend for Business Meetings, Corporate Retreats, Family Reunions, Parties, and for weddings, and receptions. This is a great facility. Contact Chamber Director, Anne Steel for details!
South Bend is the County Seat of Pacific County, and is located on Beautiful Willapa River. Our weather has no extremes, cold or hot, and is green year round. South Bend is the Oyster Capital of the West. As recreation and retirement become more and more vital, it is now being discovered as the gateway to the great Southwestern Washington recreational area. The parks, beaches, river and ocean fishing are all accessible from this growing hillside community, built like a Scandinavian fishing village on the hills overlooking the river and bay.
We're that scenic little harbor community on Highway 101 between Aberdeen and the Long Beach Peninsula. Whether you're heading north or south, we invite you to stop on your way through and check us out.
You can enjoy the great food at one of our fine restaurants, visit the Historical Museum, browse through the shops, see our famous courthouse, try a walking tour of historic homes, stroll around the riverfront park, or just take advantage of our clean public restrooms.
Seafood lovers rave about Willapa Bay's world famous oysters, which are available in stores and restaurants or direct from our commercial canneries. Plus, there are fresh crab, shrimp, and salmon in season, all caught by local fishermen.
If you're traveling with a big RV, there's lots of room for pull-over parking on Highway 101, even in the center of town. Plus our Motels, Bed & Breakfasts, RV parks and a nearby campground provide a variety of overnight options.
Also we invite you to spend a whole week-end with us during our special celebrations:
OYSTER STAMPEDE (Memorial Day Weekend)
WILLAPA HARBOR FESTIVAL (1st Weekend in August)
COME & PLAY ON LABOR DAY (Labor Day Weekend)
