Description:
Harley-Davidson of Lexington was established in 1987. This brought the “Harley-Davidson” brand back into the Lexington area after a two year void. The company began in a small 3000 squre foot area of the present location with a staff of two and three halves; Lanny Hanks, Bobby Appleton, David McGaughey, Sr., Lynn Sowders McGaughey, and Jody Caudill. In 1989, the facility grew to encompass over 5000 square feet of the facility with the addition of another full time service technician and two of the halves becoming full time. In 1997, the Buell brand was brought into the Harley-Davidson of Lexington family to supply the needs of the sport bike sector. The business continued to shift and breathe moving within the building until we remodeled the facility to Harley's interior specifications in 1998.

At the present time a new service area is under construction to provide our customers with state of the art service. Upon completion we will employ four factory trained service technicians, a service manager, service writer, and service clerk for the service area, with each technician having two work stations. The sales area is now divided into three distinct areas, encompassing motorcycles, parts & accessories, and general merchandise. In this area we employ a parts manager, parts clerk, Harley sales manager, Buell sales manager, general merchandise manager, bookkeeper, and computer specialist.

In 1999, our service department was one of seventy dealers to participate in Harley-Davidson's Service Select Program. This program enables our service personel to increase the information flow in the service department thus increasing the profitability.

In 2000, this concept was enlarged with participation in the DCI program, a performance consulting program which allows the entire dealership staff to guide their departments. On Oct. 19, 2000, the business was shaken by the sudden death of Lanny Hanks. This leaves a large hole in our structure, but Lanny wouldn’t want us to dwell on the past so we continue with the “Harley” family spirit. At the beginning of 2001 we have a greatly expanded service area with the addition of new technicians and support staff.

FROM THE SOUTH: Take I-75 North to exit 110, turn left on US 60 toward Lexington, at the Marathon gas station turn right onto Industry Rd. go straight through four way stop over the hill, dealership is on the right.

FROM THE EAST: Take I-64 West to I-75 South to exit 110, turn right on US 60 toward Lexington, at the Marathon gas station turn right onto Industry Rd. go straight through four way stop over the hill, dealership is on the right.

FROM THE WEST: Take I-64 East to I-75 South to exit 110, turn right on US 60 toward Lexington, at the Marathon gas station turn right onto Industry Rd. go straight through four way stop over the hill, dealership is on the right.

Note: Industry Rd. runs between New Circle Rd. (at Green's Toyota and Midas muffler) and Winchester Rd. (US60)
