Roosevelt National Park Service Description: This national park is also known as the "badlands of North Dakota". Its rugged, colorful landscape is home to a plethora of wildlife. The park is named after Theodore Roosevelt, one of the greatest conservationists in American history. During his presidency, Roosevelt established the US Forest Service and signed the 1906 Antiquities Act under which he proclaimed 18 national monuments. He also established 5 national parks, 51 wildlife refuges and 150 national forests. The Park is visible from the Interstate, but exploring deep into the park, patrons will behold some amazing views and solitude. Popular activities in the area are hiking, horseback riding , camping , and biking. A campsite in the area costs $10 per night. View the Park Map 266K PDF.
