Fort Owen State Park Website Description: Fort Owen marks the historic location of Montana's first permanent white settlement. In 1850, Army Major John Owen built a fort at this spot to develop a regional trade center. Today the settlement is well preserved and restored, offering visitors the chance to capture the history of this area.
