Description: Sadly, the Seaside, Oregon Chamber of Commerce is the Chamber of Commerce least knowledgable about the Bicentennial of any Chamber of Commerce on the Lewis and Clark Trail.
The vision of the Seaside, Oregon Chamber of Commerce is bankrupt. The Seaside, Oregon Chamber of Commerce has not even IDENTIFIED the opportunity of the Bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea Bicentennial. The Chamber never once has asked, "How do we capture, how do we maximized Market Share?"
The Seaside, Oregon Chamber of Commerce currently flounders with no new ideas, no qualified leadership, and no direction.
The Seaside Chamber of Commerce has outlived it's useful purpose. There are huge tourism and economic development issues in a rapidly advancing technological society for Seaside, Oregon. The Seaside Chamber of Commerce, sadly has not stayed abreast of the world in which it functions. The Seaside,Oregon Chamber of Commerce needs new blood, new life, new leadership, and new direction.
Succintly put, no responsible group who claims to advocate for local business, tourism, protection of natural resources, and for economic development can support Destination the Pacific.
The emperor has no clothes. The event may draw 1 million or more visitors. This could leave the North Oregon Coast literally trashed, and trashed as the premier Lewis and Clark destination for a decade. The cost to businesses could be $5 billion to $10 billion dollars.
Instead of trying to get huge numbers of people on the North Oregon Coast for a weekend Signature Event, everyone should be working to develop as much shoulder-season and off-season Lewis and Clark visitation FOR THE NEXT DECADE. The goal is the branding of the North Oregon Coast, and Seaside as an off-season discount destination.
"Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea spent the winter on the North Oregon Coast, Discover the beauty!"
LC200 believes we can drive $500 million to $1 billion in shoulder-season and off-season bicentennial bonus tourism revenue to Seaside in the next decade. Or we can drive it to Astoria, and to Cannon Beach, and to Lincoln City, and to Newport.
We worked very hard to develop a strategic alliance with Seaside, by working with the Seaside Chamber of Commerce. We have given the Town of Seaside $25,000 worth of free advertising in our "Portal Community Program", and about the same amount of free advertising to the Seaside, Oregon Chamber.
We have provided several hundred separate links to the Seaside Oregon Chamber of Commerce website, and in breech of our contract with them, they still do not have 1 reciprocal link to us on their website, since we first joined in 2001.
You might see our "Portal Community top of page banner ads on www.LewisandClark200.com, and on www.LewisAndClark.co.uk.
There still is no visitor center at the Seaside, Oregon Chamber of Commerce with a computer kiosk!
Think outside the box? The Seaside Chamber of Commerce can not even see outside the box.
Our link on this page goes to the Seaside DownTown Development Association, a young, energetic, vital, focused group of business and civic leaders. If there is hope Seaside can capture and maximize market share of bicentennial tourism bonus............it lies with SDDA.
