Tom Sawyer State Park is named after Erbon Powers "Tom" Sawyer, a Louisville leader and visionary. The rolling fields of the park were once farmland and now are the site of some of the finest indoor and outdoor recreation facilities in Kentucky. There is an activities center that houses a gymnasium, indoor courts for basketball, volleyball and badminton. There is also a weight room and shower facilities available. There are excercise programs for men and women and during the summer there is a water aerobics class. Gymnastics classes are offered for boys and girls. Walk, run, or hike the fitness and nature trails. There are soccer and softball fields outdoors along with tennis courts. Arts and Crafts are available for both adults and children.
