Description:
The explorers Lewis & Clark passed through the property in 1806 and commented on the unusual character of the vegetation. An interpretive marker in the park tells the story of the expedition's journey through this forested site on the return to St. Louis.

The comments Lewis and Clark made on the vegetation are important because much of the vegetation they "discovered" on their journey west was not previously recorded by Europeans.

The park is also located on the historic Nez Perce trail that extends from the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean.

Many visitors frequent the area for a relaxing tube ride down the Touchet River.

There is also notable fishing spots that are populated with large rainbow and brown trout.

Located 25 miles northeast of Walla Walla, Wash., in the southeastern corner of the state.


From the tri-cities: Go south on Hwy. 12 and turn left (east) onto Hwy. 124. At Waitsburg, turn right at stop sign and then turn immediately left onto Coppei Ave. At next stop sign, go straight onto Hwy. 12. Continue east 4 1/2 miles to park entrances (day-use on right, and camping on left).
